Daylight Saving Time (DST)

This is the first experience in my life, jumping an hour ahead and also my day has only 23 hours. That’s funny, is n’t it?
I was just surfing net for some more information about the DST and found some interesting things.

Please tell me something about it
In ancient days, work hours are calculated by dividing the time between sun rise to sun set into equal time slices. So an hour used to vary between 40 minutes to 80 minutes. After introduction of 60 minitues of hour, this calculation has been stopped. After introducing the new standards hours system, summer days started having more hours. And DST is proposed to increase opportunities for outdoor leisure (this is very improtant in cold countries, as they do not get chance to roam in winters & falls).

What are the Advantages?
  • Bright & very sunny evenings are available for outdoor leisure (like shopping, beatches, etc...).
  • Lot of electricity can be saved, since evening domestic and office consumption will be reduced.
What about Disadvantages?
  • The change does not help, if some work is related with sunlight or should be done in sunlight.
  • Lot of paper work/accounting work/logic required to take care of this.
When This Happens?

An hour decreases in the last sunday of March at 2am all clocks jump to 3am.
All clocks stop for the hour again in Octobers last weekend. Hurrey, that day contains 25 hours, I can sleep one more hour on that day :)

The below pic from wikipedia may help better.

How it helped me?
Able to go to evening walks (small jogs) to reduce my tummy, as it is sunny till 8pm. :)
